Why seat time is only an estimate
Reading speed varies, video may be paused, scenarios require thinking time and accessibility needs can change how long content takes to use. A course with fewer words can still take longer if it contains realistic decision practice.
Do not shorten learning just to hit a target
If the course is too long, first remove content that does not support the learning outcomes. Splitting a course into smaller modules can improve usability, but it does not reduce the total learning requirement by itself.
