SCORM pre-publish checklist

Use this practical SCORM checklist before LMS release to verify package structure, completion, scoring, resume behaviour, accessibility and learner testing.

Updated 26 August 2026By Lumeo Learning Ltd

1. Release details

  • Course title and version are correct.
  • Owner and release date are recorded.
  • Target LMS and SCORM version are confirmed.
  • Pass mark and completion rule are documented.
  • The exported ZIP is the approved release file.

2. Package integrity

  • The ZIP opens without corruption.
  • imsmanifest.xml is present at the expected package level.
  • Launch files and asset paths resolve correctly.
  • The package has not been re-zipped with an extra parent folder.

See the manifest guide if import fails.

3. Tracking and scoring

  • A passing attempt records the expected completion and success status.
  • A failing attempt records correctly.
  • The score matches the visible assessment result.
  • Unanswered graded questions are handled correctly.
  • The LMS receives the final result before the course exits.

4. Exit and resume

  • Exit midway and relaunch as the same learner.
  • The learner returns to the expected place.
  • Completed interactions remain completed.
  • Assessment progress behaves as designed.

5. Learner experience

  • Keyboard navigation works.
  • Focus is visible.
  • Captions or transcripts are available where needed.
  • Mobile and desktop layouts remain usable.
  • Links, buttons, media and interactions all function.

6. Final sign-off

Run the test with an ordinary learner account, capture evidence of the expected LMS result and store it with the release record. Repeat the checklist after any package update that affects navigation, assessment or tracking.
